Slab Size and Overhang
The slab is often poured slightly larger than the shed footprint to protect the walls from splashback. Confirm the intended overhang before pouring.
Thickness and Reinforcement
Shed slabs are typically thicker than a light patio. Reinforcement type depends on the shed's weight and any equipment that will be stored inside.
Base Preparation
A compacted base keeps the slab from settling once the shed is in place. Skipping base work is a common cause of doors that stop closing correctly a few years later.
Drainage
Slope the surrounding grade so water flows away from the slab. Standing water at the edges shortens the life of the shed's siding and floor.
Anchoring
Discuss anchor locations before the pour so hardware can be set correctly. Retrofitting anchors is possible but more work.
